Galleria Centercity

With an organization based on a propeller, the Galleria Centercity designed by the Dutch firm of Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos, UN Studio, in Cheonan, 80 kilometers south of Seoul, delivers the program in four stacked zones, each of which occupies three floors, all with public spaces and arranged around a void.

The flow of visitors inside the building follows an upward path from the beginning up to the exit, and its design vindicates the importance of the social and cultural development of shopping centers, especially in Southeast Asian countries. The double facade is formed by uprights that from the outside make unreadable the scale of the building; at night its colors changes, incorporating computer-generated animations on its surface.
